About our name
The name conjures images of herbs, essences, aromas, colors inextricably linked with India's beauty and natural approach towards mind, body and spirit. The word comes from 'Ayurveda', the sub-continent's 5,000 year old Science of Life, and 'Om', the symbol of Supreme Energy that pervades life.
Ayoma's unique concept - Living Ayurveda
Life, according to Ayurveda, is comprised of the physical body, the senses, the mind, the soul and invisible past experiences. Health comes from the harmony and treatment of the integrated person. It is a dynamic system that tailors itself to the individual. Our concept, called Living Ayurveda implies that Ayurveda is a living philosophy and health program, that is meant to be experienced through all the senses, from the colors of our fabrics, to the scents of all-herbal products, to the sounds of Ayoma healing music. It is "living" in its fluidity, it's interactivity, and its focus on personal needs. Living Ayurveda means realizing the benefits of this lifestyle everyday to maximize your life energy or Ojas for rejuvenation and long term well-being.
Ayoma recognizes that the physical body and the senses are comprised of five elements, Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth. These combined with the three qualities of the mind, Purity, Activity, Inertia, the individual soul and invisible past experiences unite to form three distinct mind-body combinations or doshas. Typically, one dosha determines the individual's mental and physical constitution. An imbalance in doshas affects health and well being. Ayoma's skincare, massage, body therapies and nutritional guidance programs help restore the body's natural dosha balance, enhancing Ayurvedic healing at the subtlest levels.
Enhancing Inner Beauty
Ayurveda aims at to maximize Ojas. There is no direct translation in English for Ojas. We articulate it as life energy, vital essence, the subtle "glue" that fuses consciousness with the physical body. Ojas is the ultimate vital life energy that pervades the system and resides in the body. It is responsible for immunity, vigor and energy levels.
To increase Ojas is to build health, vitality and to generate inner beauty. What we see in our stressful world are people with depleted Ojas. Like dried leaves, they are tired, worn out, brittle, and their overall health suffers. At Ayoma, we believe that our natural state should be fresh and moist, full of Ojas and vitality at age 10 or age 90.
Ojas is central to Ayoma's philosophy of life and living. Ayoma products and therapies are formulated to increase Ojas. Ojas in turn leads to a life full of abundance. Abundant happiness, abundant health, and abundant inner beauty.
